How this calculator works
The tool turns your cost per mile into a cost per hour by multiplying it by the miles you cover each paid hour, including unpaid pickup miles. It subtracts that from your gross fares-plus-tips per hour to get real net pay, then compares the result against the target wage you set — so the answer reflects your car and your market, not a headline fare.
Formula
Car cost per hour = cost per mile × miles per paid hour. Net pay per hour = gross per hour − car cost per hour. Gap = net pay per hour − target wage.
Worked example
At $26 gross per hour, $0.41 per mile and 28 miles per paid hour: car cost = $0.41 × 28 = $11.48 per hour, so net pay = $26 − $11.48 ≈ $14.52 per hour. Against a $22 target, that falls short by about $7.48 an hour.
